The Maisie Chapman Stories
No one knows just where Miss Maisie Chapman came from. No one even knows if she's a Miss or a Missus. She, and The Blue Club, seemed to have simply appeared one day. They tell stories about her. Some might even be true. They say that she's been around the world twice even though she's barely 25. They say that she married a prince who died in the great war. They say she served in France as a nurse and a Duke bequeathed her his entire fortune while she treated his wounds. They say she's a runaway. They say she's a whore. They say a lot of things but they all know it's best to watch what you say around her.
It's not a great time to have your neck out in Minneapolis. There's a lot of folks around just looking to chop it off to sprout one in it's place, but then there's Maisie and The Blue Club. Somehow she keeps the gears moving, keeps just enough out of the way and keeps just the right sort of roughs around to grease the wheels and make things fly. People have fun there. She always has the right band playing, and the juice ain't bad. And they say, if you're ever really hard up on your luck, Maisie Chapman is the best friend you're likely to find and if she can't help you you can't be helped.
